A View of Unique Sights and Sounds
On March 24th, the Independence Garden Club met at 11:30 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living for their monthly meeting. Twenty members and two guests answered roll call by sharing a fond gardening memory. The March floral for LTC was provided by Shirley Rozendaal and Carol Fisher and Cindy Walton provided craft assistance on March 6th. Members are busy making plans for the May 1st District II Meeting and our May 9th plant sale.
The delicious noon meal was followed by speaker, Deb Conklin. She presented a marvelous power point she created following her recent travels through the Panama Canal and extensive touring of Asia and South America. Deb explained, in detail, many extraordinary native customs, agricultural and religious practices, housing, dress and was kind to answer many questions.
The public is welcome to attend our next meeting on April 28th by calling Darlene Lorenz at 334-2623. We will carpool to Waterloo for a private tour of the Petersen & Tietz greenhouses, followed by lunch at the Sweet Spot in Independence.
