A Beautiful Day for an Outing

Ten members of the Independence Garden Club enjoyed an outing in Dysart on July 22, 2014. Several ladies of the town’s hospitality committee greeted us warmly and opened the spacious library where they told us about the special features of their town. An air conditioned tour bus took us to several beautiful gardens and past other local attractions. After a delicious lunch at a local café, we browsed through the various shops. 

We held our business meeting prior to departure and answered roll call as we headed home with collectables and garden treasures. Many members had also toured four beautiful local gardens in Independence on Monday, July 21st with members of the Quasqueton Garden Club and Buchanan County Master Gardeners.

Shirley Rozendaal provided the floral for Long Term in July and Dixie Bagby and Rosalind Gibbs assisted with crafts there on August 1st. 

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, August 26th, when members will meet at the Long Term Care at 11:30, followed by lunch at 12:30pm. Members will assist residents to make floral bouquets for their rooms with cuttings from their gardens before seeing a collection of framed photos taken by Keith Megonigle and Eleanor Hand.
