Sixteen members of the Independence Garden Club met at the Buchanan County Senior Center on Earth Day, April 22nd, where Jean Rouse served as hostess. Following a delicious luncheon, Joellen Yeager and Cindy Walton presented a program and catalogs on new plants for 2014. Several varieties of new plants were on display and later given to some of the lucky ones attending. Roll call was, “What new plants are you planting”?

The club voted to give Sondra Cabel $100.00 for the purchase of rubber nugget mulch to be used in the raised beds between East and West Elementary schools.
Rodney Schabacker from Greentree Landscaping in Winthrop will be planting a maple tree (Autumn Fantasy) at the selected site at the new Jr./Sr. High school within the week, if weather permits. Members will be notified to attend if able.
